Enjoying Life

I'm Dave and I spent 10 yrs in the Air Force where I worked on computers and learned the skills to become an IT professional. I was stationed in San Antonio, TX; Biloxi, MS; Ogden, UT; Stuttgart, Germany; Belleville, IL and Al Kharj, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Big things that happened when I was in or a part of:

1. The fall of the Berlin wall.
2. The invasion of Panama.
3. The first Gulf War.
4. Watching the ethnic cleansing in Bosnia/Herzegovina while the international community had their collective heads up their asses.
5. Assisting in the response to the Rwandan genocide in July 1994.
6. Camping for 3 months in the Saudi Arabian desert in support of the No-Fly Zones in Iraq
7. Participating in a color guard that traveled all over Europe to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of WWII.

After experiencing all that, I felt my skills would be of more use on the corporate battlefield as a computer consultant. In 2007, after 10 years in corporate America, I was laid off and I decided to try it on my own and opened my own business. Now I'm calling the shots and loving it and I have more time for friends and family. I still love to travel and do so whenever I can both for work and recreation (although I try to avoid combat areas these days). Road-trip anyone?

I'm always looking to expand my circle of friends and look for guys that want to go biking, play paintball, go bowling, catch a game or get in a round of golf. Also could use a workout bud. Afterward we can chill out and watch a movie, play Wii or just chat over a drink of your choice.

Also, I'm not tied to the Chicago area, in fact, as soon as the housing market improves, I'll be selling my place and moving. Salt Lake City, Lake Tahoe and Sacramento are on the short list, but open to other places as well.

Who I'd like to meet:
At this stage of my life, I'm ready to settle down with one person and have a meaningful relationship, someone to share life with, but until I find him (or he finds me), I'm open to anything. I still have fun, but I'm tired of the drama and bs associated with the bars, the online scene, etc. I'm looking more for intimate dinners, vacations, sharing a bottle of wine in front of a fire on a cold winter night, taking sunset walks, etc. When it comes to guys, your looks might get my attention, but your personality has to keep it. I'm a masculine str8 acting/appearing guy and prefer guys that are the same. Nothing against feminine guys, just have learned through experience we don't have much in common. That being said, I am a touchy/feely type of guy that likes cuddling and body contact, but am pretty reserved when it comes to public displays of affection.

Guys that catch my attention are:
1. intelligent with drive, ambition and goals.
2. honest/faithful.
3. caring/considerate of others.

When it comes to guys, your looks might get my attention, but your personality has to keep it. I'm here to meet guys - in the real world - so at some point you should be capable of stepping away from the keyboard and venturing out in public for coffee, a drink, a meal or something as I'd much rather get to know you in person than online
