Scarlet Fire Victim Support

At 7:15 a.m. on February 27th in Boystown, the building that housed Scarlet Bar was in a blaze of fire. Being on the first floor of the building, Scarlet and the residences on the 2nd and 3rd floors were destroyed.

To say that this was a SAD day in the Boystown community, is an understatement! Scarlet was not only a popular bar, but a number of people living in that building have been displaced and the livelihood of those people is in jeopardy.

The time is NOW for the LGBT community to take action and support them! To that end, Hydrate has announced this it is hosting a Fundraiser for the victims of the Scarlet fire on Sunday, March 1, 2009. The reception will be from 9 to 10:30pm with a suggested $10 donation. All proceeds from the evening will go directly to the individuals devastated by this horrible tragedy.

Additionally, Cocktail announced on the morning of the fire that it plans to host a Fundraiser on Monday the 2nd from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with half the proceeds going to the victims of that blaze.

I'm happy to see that others in the Chicago community are joining together to help those who survived the fire. On March 6 Cell Block will be holding a benefit for the employees of Scarlet.

On March 10 yours truly will be hosting a fundraiser at Wild Pug from 7:00 – 9:00PM. Half the sales during that time will go to help buy food/toiletries for those that lost everything.

On March 23 Roscoe's will be throwing a charity performance to raise funds. Stay tuned for how you can give. If you can't attend any of these, but would like to donate/help, please email me!

All are being encouraged to donate dollars to this very worthy cause! If you can't attend, please drive by and drop off your donations. Many were lucky to get out of the burning building with just their sleepwear on.

YOU can Make A Difference today!
