Zach Wahls, Taking Risks to Achieve Success
Zach, then a 19-year-old University of Iowa student, addressed the Iowa House of Representatives regarding a proposed state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. He spoke about the meaning of family and proudly proclaimed, “The sexual orientation of my parents has had zero effect on the content of my character.” Hours later, his speech was posted on YouTube and quickly went viral. 3:30 pm doors open, 4 - 4:45 pm presentation, reception follows.
