On the evening of the Day of Silence, join 450+ LGBTQ and Ally youth to collectively break the silence, speak out about Day of Silence experience, and celebrate the LGBTQ youth community. Youth will speak and perform poetry and dance and then dance the night away with a DJ. iman@illinoissafeschools.org for more info.

WMG’s rich exhibition history includes domestic violence, breast cancer, war related issues, and religious subjects. One of the works, is the work by Mary Ellen Croteau, “Women on a Pedestal” is now in WMG’s Permanent Collection. Will honor its Co-Founder and Executive Director, Beate Minkovski. $65 prepaid or $75 at the door

Free art making, live music and multimedia presentations, creation stations with screen printing and collage making with re-purposed paper, painting on salvaged wood, reflective writing and a “trash sculpture.” Food sampling from local diverse and healthy restaurants. Live music performed by local musicians and DJs, including indie rock band Good Evening and producer/DJ Searchl1te.

Red Baraat comes to the ECC Arts Center’s Blizzard Theater, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, Friday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. Known for its explosive stage performances, Red Baraat melds North Indian rhythm Bhangra with a host of sounds including brass, funk, go-go, Latin, and jazz to create a wildly exciting musical experience. The Wall Street Journal calls Red Baraat “a big band for the world,” and the Chicago Reader hails them as “fun as hell.” The April 20 performance will include selections from their upcoming album, “Shruggy Ji.” This presentation is supported by the Performing Arts Fund, a program of Arts Midwest, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Illinois Arts Council, General Mills Foundation and Land O’Lakes Foundation.
