Where? The Playground Theater 3209 N. Halsted
This is improv – with a tempo! After a two-month hiatus, Chicago’s only improvised acapella show is back and better than ever.
The talented cast takes the audience suggestion of a college to create a brand new collegiate a cappella ensemble every week. After opening with an original song, the actors explore the depths of each troupe member as these off-the-wall individuals create harmonies on the spot, sing old favorites and air the dirty laundry of college a cappella.
Takin’ it to the Beats ran previously for five months at The Playground Theater, the nation’s only not-for-profit co-op theater dedicated to the performance and instruction of improvised comedy. A Playground Theater Incubator Improv Team opens each night.
The Playground Theater, 3209 N. Halsted, Saturdays May 26-July 21, 10pm, $10 for tickets/$5 for students. BYOB. Tickets may be purchased from Brown Paper Tickets online or by calling The Playground’s box office at 773-871-3793.
