The Gay and Straight Together Ministry of United in Faith Lutheran Church, a welcoming and affirming congregation, invites all to Summer PRIDE, a film festival dealing with different aspects of homosexuality and our faith.

Summer PRIDE will take place on the second Sundays of June, July and August, beginning at 2 pm. The film festival is designed to bring gay and straight together for conversation and understanding.

Following is a listing of the films and a brief description of what it is about:

Sunday, June 10, 2 pm—Fish Out of Water. In this spirited Chicago-produced documentary, filmmaker Ky Dickens explores seven Bible passages used to condemn homosexuality and justify marriage discrimination. (Thank you to Lutherans Concerned-Chicago for providing their copy of Fish Out of Water.)

Sunday, July 8—2 pm. Fish Can’t Fly. Conversations about God and struggling to be gay. This film questions whether homosexuality can be cured. It explores the lives of gay men and women of faith as they recall their journeys to put their sexuality and their spirituality in harmony.
Sunday, August 12—2 pm. What Do You Say When Someone You Love Says: I am Gay? Bishop Egertson reveals the journey he and his wife Shirley have taken to understand what it means to have a gay son. In this video, the Egertson’s go from feeling that homosexuality is sinful to a total acceptance of homosexuality as well as their son. (This film is for family and friends of gay and lesbians as well.)
