Inconsequential
Those who dream, sleep.
Those who think, wait.
Those who love, ache.
Life is not our enemy or our friend,
It does not provide or take from us.
Life is inconsequential.
It is the people we meet that make consequence.
The people we dream about,
the people we think about,
the people we love.
Life just is.
It is only those who fill our souls with dreams, our mind with thoughts, and our hearts with love that allow us to be more than inconsequential.
They make our lives relevant.
They make our lives important.
Those who think, wait.
Those who love, ache.
Life is not our enemy or our friend,
It does not provide or take from us.
Life is inconsequential.

I see London, I see France...
Okay, so maybe it was the Grey's Anatomy Season Finale, or maybe I had too much Mountain Dew or maybe it's just exhaustion setting in but does anybody else wanna go and buy some new white briefs and socks and have an underwear party and just slide up and down the hallways in our socks and have some drinks and talk, and sing, and dance and talk some more until we pass out and just enjoy each others company like we're little kids again who aren't burdened with all this grown up stuff? (not that little kids drink, but you know what I mean) Just thought I'd throw it out there? And no I don't have a secret fetish - I just think boys look cute and clean in bright white underwear.
Who knows maybe I'll actually get toned and tanned and host one of these impromptu gatherings ;)

Curious?
Curiosity killed the cat. Poor cat.
It's funny in a morbid sort of way, if you think about it. You know what else is funny in a morbid sort of way? How we've actually disenfranchised ourselves from life. We will raise our blood pressure, engage our diaphragms, and furrow our brows when someone cuts us off in traffic or even in line at an amusement park - but when we hear about a country where AIDS is as common as headaches are here, or that the polar bears made the endangered species list we treat it like the cat that just got fried for being curious about the humming electrical wire, "Awww, poor kitty. Hey babe, what do you wanna do for dinner?". The funny part is that no matter how much we try and distance life from ourselves the milk we drink still came out of a cow's breast, the water from fuji is still part of the same circle of life as the water we just flushed away is, and the people who just died while I was writing this are in fact related to us - if by nothing more than being human. Maybe my posts are too preachy. And I'm am certainly not here to judge you or compare which one of us is least guilty of doing nothing. But I do want more people to think about it. If you can offer advice to help me improve my writing - great! Maybe you think I'm hopeless and would rather write a better blog on your own - fine by me. But I won't sit by quiet anymore. And I am surrounded by people that complain and do nothing. I am working/struggling on setting up a company that can focus on making a difference both here and abroad, and it's not easy but I'm still going to do my best and hope that I meet the right people at the right time to help. Curious?

hey Tim, I read this post on your blog and was interested more in what you were talking about when you said that you were looking into starting a company to help out individuals here and abroad. I have moved on from Chicago (as the picture on top of the blog made me miss N. Halsted a little with a place where people felt safe to be who they were for once) and onto Baltimore for a year continuing in the casework field at a shelter. I hope things are goin well for ya

Happiness is Bliss
If time is money
and money can't buy happiness
then why are we trying to find more time and more money
instead of just trying to find happiness?

Of mice and men and "cheese!"
So when did it become okay for the government to blackmail its citizens as a way of generating revenues? This idea of "photo enforcement" is exactly that.
There's nothing quite like that feeling of being famous and having flashbulbs go off all around you as the rapidly snapping sounds signal the capture of your every move. Unfortunately with photo enforcement this sense of fame is more closely related to the individuals adorning the walls of post offices rather than the pages of your favorite gossip magazine. And yes I am well aware that the men in blue could easily write you a ticket for similar infractions of the law. The difference - they're human, they use judgement, they have limitations. These are all good things. And I'm not advocating this so that if we all run the red lights or drive too fast the mentality of "they can't catch us all" sets in. That would be stupid and cause a lot of needless injuries and deaths. But I am saying that there is a reason we don't put shock collars on our children and set them in front of a computer for 8 hours a day and tell them to learn "if they know what's good for them". While that solution might be terribly more effective and cost efficient - we've decided that we'll stick with the current education system. It's not perfect. A LOT of people are under recognized. Students aren't living up to their potential. Budgets are always inadequate. But inside that whole mess of problems we find ourselves resolute. We won't give up on the teachers who still manage to muster up the courage and passion to make this next generation a little better. We're still awed by those students who somehow manage to not only survive the mess but use that struggle to make this world spin a little more smoothly. And in our guts (if we still do gut checks) we know it's the best solution for now.
It all boils down to this whole idea of leadership and what is it? And which leader's are friendly? And which ones are faux? I'm seldom the smartest guy in the room, but the things I do know I try to make use of. And I know that if a ships leaking and nobody fixes the leak and nobody's steering the ship and the only thing the captain and crew are concerned with is throwing more and more water around - that's not called leadership, it's called a lead ship - and it's gonna sink. If you have budget problems don't blackmail us. Try opening up a dialogue instead. Maybe a fresh set of eyes can help you find the budget cuts that won't kill ya, even if they do make you sweat a little. But enough with this digital mousetrap solution. We're tired of saying "cheese!" for your cameras. Oh Snap!
