Pissed off beyond belief
so i was just browsing through news topics today and i came across an interesting subject...the military has been allowing more ppl with felonies to enlist...including ppl with murder convictions and sex crimes...um hello!!!! what the fuck is up with that?????...here i am a perfectly able guy who is more than willing to serve his country yet isn't allowed to because it just so happens that he likes guys as well as women...how stupid is that???? as most of you know i was in the navy and got honorably discharged because of my orientation...this is social unjustice at it's worst...it's a travesty that something like this would even be thought of...and they claim it's to meet combat needs...well let me tell you this...there are many gays lesbians and bis out there that would gladly serve in the military and help them meet their "combat needs" yet we're shut out because of insecurities of their own sexualities by our nations top commanders...the 90's are OVER!!!...DON'T ASK DON'T TELL was probably the biggest scam ever and just goes to show how big of a sellout bill clinton was...we are the last industrialized country not to allow gay ppl in the military...so much for civil liberties huh????...anyways here's the article i found this in
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080421/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/military_felons
sorry if i sound irrate but i am and i have every right to be pissed off...would u rather work with an ex-felon or someone who happens to like the same thing you do?????

you're not alone in your anger over this news, this former Army captain is right there with you...let all qualified serve no matter their orientation instead of lowering the standards and safety of the ranks by allowing convicts into the military!
thank you sir for agreeing with me on this...it's such a shame that our standards are being lowered to this point...and yet we still bar certain people from enlisting...well hopefully the policy will change soon...i hope it does atleast...i will be right back in that recruiters office the moment it does
Why didn't you add this stuff to myspace so i could read it??

Coming Out...Again
so i'll just lay it all out on the line...i'm coming out...again...i've finally come to accept the fact that i'm bi...and i'm happy...i've had such a strong connection and attraction towards women for a while now...and all the while i've felt the same towards men...i've just denied it because...well who are we kidding being bi isn't necessarily the easiest thing to be...neither gays or straights fully accept bisexuals...which is such a pity...so yes the new chapter in my life begins...and i'm completely happy with my choices...i can't judge...i love everyone!!!!

Justice for all?
Alright so I was doing some thinking today. As I'm sure many of you have seen or read by now the Peoples Republic of China has severely cracked down on the people of Tibet because they have utilized their inalienable right of speaking out against what they believe is wrong. This has spurred many protests worldwide including protesters extinguishing the Olympic flame 5 times during the relay in Paris. The international community is calling for a boycott of the opening Olympic ceremony which would do much to belittle China.
Now think about that people being killed and punished just for speaking their mind. I'm sure we all remember the Tiananmen Square incident of the 80's where people were literally ran over by tanks just because they were protesting what they believed to be wrong. Kind of makes you realize how good we actually have it in the good ol' U.S. of A.
Now here's the question for you. What are willing to do to fight for your cause? Be it the right to marry, equal rights in the work place, or even those inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I give the Tibetans much credit for doing what they're doing. They're protesting knowing they will probably go to jail or even die. Are you willing to do die for your cause? Are you willing to put it all on the line so that your grandchildren and their grandchildren can enjoy the freedoms and liberties that we have yet to enjoy? Now honestly we do live in the U.S. and I highly doubt anyone would be killed if they protested, but is it still a possibility?...yes. One thing that kind of bothers me though is that people are too caught up in their own cause, but turn a blind eye to injustices being served towards other people. This year's Equality Illinois' Gala theme was "Justice for All" to many people in the glbt community that simply means equal rights to them and to hell with anyone else. Is that really right though? I mean seriously have we lost all compassion towards everyone else that we as a community flash the "victim card" all the time? I mean don't get me wrong I'm not trying to belittle our cause. There are many haneous acts committed every day against glbt's. I guess I'm just trying to bring to light that there are other major pressing issues out there and that we are NOT the only ones facing discrimination and hatred and that we should NOT act like victims because victims can't let go and move on...however survivors are the ones that learn from the past and forget their hatred and sorrow and move on to make things better for themselves and others...thats how we should act as a community...SURVIVORS.

Supporter of the Unpopular
So I have no statistics or facts or even any support on this issue (I don't think I could find a supporter even if I paid them)...however it is still my opinion...and just goes to show that I'm not a fair weather person and am willing to go against the general consensus on some issues.
What I'm talking about is a certain word that starts with a "dr" and ends with an "aft," yes I'm talking about the draft and why I am in full support of it. This country is coined in our national anthem as the "land of the free and the home of the brave." Think about that for a second, think of all the freedoms and liberties we have in this country. Look at countries like Iraq where they barely have 3 hrs worth of electricity per day, China where they throw you in jail for protesting, Russia where you "disappear" if you oppose the Kremlin, Iran where you can legally be executed for being gay. I hate bringing up the "gay" issues but it seems nine times out of ten that's the only way to get a point across to gay people. Kind of sad that most gays are only concerned about "their cause" and not about what's best for the general public. Anyways now look at our country. We have the right to vote in free and open elections, we can openly criticize our government, we can be gay, straight, black, yellow and still have the same rights (to some extent obviously it still needs work), we have the right to own property, compared to other countries we can pretty much do whatever we want. Now back to what I asked you to do before think about those words "land of the free and the home of the brave." Don't you think those freedoms are worth fighting for?
FREEDOM ISN'T FREE...you have to fight to be free...had there not been a draft during WWII do you honestly think America would be where it is today? Let alone still an independent nation? Do you think the allied forces would have won the war without our support? Some people say that we shouldn't have gotten into WWI or WWII but honestly it was in our best interest to get into it. I can assure you Adolph Hitler would not have stopped with Europe he would have tried to take over the United States as well. So by getting involved in someone else's fight we essentially prevented a far worse problem. Do you think we would have had the numbers and the strength to accomplish that feat had we not enacted the draft?
Now I'm not saying every person in this country is fit for the military. What I am saying is that every citizen of this country should be obligated to serve 4 years in some public service of sorts. I'm talking military, schools, road construction, postal service, volunteering time to the homeless. Do you know how better off our country would be? How many more jobs would be created, how better off our infrastructure would be, how much the economy would benefit? Like I said there are far more ways to support this country than just serving in the military. I honestly believe we are deeply indebted to this country. We enjoy so much and this country gives so much to us but what do many of us give in return?
Freedom isn't free. Our forefathers realized that, they realized that King George wasn't going to grant them independence if they asked him nicely. You have to fight for what you believe in.
So I believe this country needs to enact a mandatory draft of sorts for each citizen to serve his country in one way or another. It's the least we can do. I know not everyone is like me and practically no one will probably agree with me on this issue. However I will always answer my country's call to service in any way I can, I would gladly die fighting for our country (not our president but our country) she has given me so much opportunity and joy. I wouldn't want to live in any other country on Earth. You see I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN and like the song goes "...where atleast I know I'm free, and I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me,and I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today,
cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A..."

Republican Scare Tactics
Senator McCain keeps telling us that he is the only one qualified to lead this country “in a post-9/11 world.” They all keep using “post 9/11,” and they describe the threat of Islam fundamentalist extremism as a “new” threat that the Democrats don’t understand.
And yet, Senator Obama seems to be the only one who understands that this is not a new threat, that the world has always been a dangerous place and most assuredly always will be.
McCain talks about the “post 9/11” world as if the exact same people never tried to bomb the exact same buildings in 1993, as if the exact same people didn’t blow up embassies in Africa and didn’t attack the USS Cole.
And he talks about the modern threat of terrorism as if there is something unique about the idea of scaring people. For a supposed military expert, he seems to have forgotten about the Baader-Meinhof Gang, the Red Brigade, Sendero Luminoso, or ETA. From the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand to Kristallnacht ("Night of Broken Glass"), if this past century shares one trait with all previous ones, it is that terrorism has been used by those without legitimate power as a means to their ends.
McCain doesn’t get this. To him, the world was static during the Cold War years, and then erupted into chaos when the world was left with only one superpower. To him, Al Qaeda arrived on the scene and in its present form on Sept 11th, and any resemblance to those whom we funded and armed when they were fighting the Soviets is merely an illusion.
Sen. Obama is the only one who seems to get that the world is and always has been full of potential threats, and to treat only one as the most significant means to leave yourself open to yet another attack on an unprotected flank. Only 46 years old and with no military experience, and he’s the only one who gets it.
