Equality Illinois Justice For All Gala
Equality Illinois has been working for years to secure, protect and defend the basic civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in the state of Illinois.
Equality Illinois has played a major role in the passage of Chicago's Human Rights Ordinance and the 2005 non-discrimination bill that made Illinois prohibit discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodations based on sexual orientation. Equality Illinois has taken your voice to the leaders and people of our state and moved some pretty big walls!
The Equality Illinois Gala is taking place Saturday, January 23, 2010. This fundraiser is a terrific opportunity to Make A Difference right here in Chicago! The Equality Illinois Gala is a blast! Everyone dresses up for a great meal, inspiring speeches, fabulous libations and a great dance floor. EVERYONE will be there!!
If you would like to attend, tickets are on sale here or by going directly to the Equality Illinois website

BEHIV's Pins for a Cure
BeHIV:
Better Existence with HIV (BEHIV) hosted its first bowling fundraiser, Pins for a Cure, this weekend. Over 40 bowlers participated in the event, including members of Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association’s bowling league. Over $3,000 was raised to support BEHIV’s life-saving programs.
“The results of this event were simply amazing,” said Executive Director Eric Nelson. “We are so grateful for everyone’s support. It was a very fun afternoon and a great opportunity for people to get together, enjoy some bowling and help our clients.”
BEHIV plans on making the Pins for a Cure an annual event. Each year, BEHIV educates more than 12,000 young people throughout Chicagoland about how to protect themselves; houses more than 190 men, women and children impacted by HIV; delivers case management, mental health counseling, art therapy and massage therapy services to more than 300 adults who need a lifeline to supportive services; and provides approximately 1,000 free HIV and sexually transmitted infection tests to our most vulnerable populations. For more information on BEHIV, contact, Eric Nelson at (773) 293-4740 ext. 35 or ericnelson@behiv.org.
