Glaad Tyra
The honorees for this year's GLAAD Media Awards were recently named, of which included the feature films Milk and Vicky Christina Barcelona, as well as Tyra Banks and The Tyra Banks Show.

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the GLAAD Media Awards, where the nonprofit, gay and lesbian antidefamation organization recognizes mainstream media's "fair and accurate depecition of LGBT people and their stories." However, in the past, GLAAD wasn't in the practice of honoring media produced by gay-specific enterprises, until now.

This year's GLAAD award-winning productions include the LOGO-made Noah's Arc: Jumping the Broom, and a few other shows created and aired on the LGBT-geared cable channel.

So why the change of heart? Well, LOGO is the only network that has, at the least in the past, televised the awards ceremony. Perhaps that has something to do with it?

Nevertheless, I think we should turn the GLAAD awards into our own gay-predominant version of the Oscars. We can call the GLAAD statuettes "Garys." It would be super fun, ala: Who took Gary home this year? Tyra Banks went home with Gary.

The GLAAD Media Awards Ceremony takes place in NYC March 29, in L.A. April 18, and in San Francisco May 9.

Fierce.
last night, I decided to show our own MaKe a Difference-making ChicagoPride.com Ambassador Bill Pritchard some support at the ChicagoPride.com-sponsored frat boy party at Scarlet, to which he was hosting, and then head on down to Spin and see what this Chicago Free Press, Pressie Award-winning drag show, Fierce, every Thursday night at Spin, was all about.

What I discovered: Show = great; Fierce Hostess Lady Vera Parker = great; rehab, Spin expansion = great; Editor, not so very, at Large CPJason --> old, tired (at 11:15 I was exhausted and thought I'd never make to the 11:30 curtain call), and (see picture two) significantly overweight.

Best In Show
This week, Chicago Free Press announced the winners of the local LGBT weekly’s 2008 Pressie Awards, naming the readers’ choice for the community’s gay best of the best. Of those listed, ChicagoPride.com ranked tops in the category of "best LGBT Web site."

We’re number one, Baby!

And that’s not all-—a bunch of CP.com's partners and contributors were named as well. Miss Foozie wins yet another Pressie Award for Best Club Event/Promotion of her fabulous Variety Show at Circuit. Our where-to-go, what-to-do guy Michael Lehet wins for Best Blog. Our pals at Fusion Radio received Best Internet Music Station, and DJ Phil DaBeatz, who got his
first taste of media exposure
on our very site, was voted best local Club DJ.

Congrats to all.

A Tiskit, A Tasket...
... a green cock in your Baskit.

Baskit Underwear unveils their "Pure" collection Feb. 3, 2009, featuring jocks, bikini-briefs, boxer shorts and low-rise trunks made with 100% pure, organic cotton.

Aside from the evironmentally conscious aspects of the cotton's harvesting, the line's production also complies with the Europen Union’s Environmental Quality standards. The end result yields a junk sack free of toxic dyes and heavy metals that, when mixed with ball sweat, have the potential to introduce gender-bending chemicals into the bloodstream, according to Baskit CEO Eric Schwers.

As to the legitamacy of this sex-changing claim, Schwers says, "Do you really want to find out?"

A preview of Baskit’s new Spring 2009 collection can be viewed at www.Baskitwear.com.
