Oui, Oui! Les Drag Ballet!
The Harris Theater for Music and Dance and The AIDS Foundation of Chicago present Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo. In a special performance benefitting the Foundation, the all-male professional ballet company appears for one night only, Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 7:30 p.m.
Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo was founded in 1974 by a group of San Francisco ballet enthusiasts for the purpose of presenting a playful, entertaining view of classical ballet in parody form and en travesti. The "Trocks," are a company of professional male dancers performing the full range of ballet and modern dance repertoire, including classical and original works, in faithful renditions of the manners and conceits of those dance styles. And they do it in tutus.
Tickets for the performance, which range from $40-$75, are on sale now at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance box office located in Millennium Park at 205 E. Randolph Dr., by calling 312-334-7777 or by visiting www.harristheaterchicago.org.

Pink Pets
Ever hear of those sociological research studies whose inconclusive findings ultimately determine that the obvious might, in fact, be fact? For example: "In an online study, it was determined that 85% of all McDonalds and Burger King customers eat beef on a regular basis."
It's the kind of study that makes you sarcastically say, "Really? I never would have thought that."
With society ever changing during and after each generation, all sociological theories are inconclusive in nature. So, I wonder why one would even endure the great effort to embark on such a study, if only to obtain an answer that can never be confirmed? I'm sure there's a very good reason why one would--I just don't know what it is.
Anywho, here's another one of those studies:
An online study performed by Harris Interactive, involving 2,455 adults--six% of which indentified as LGBT--recently found that LGBT adults are more likely to own a pet than their straight counterparts.
Distributed by Witeck Combs, according to the study's press release, "Seven out of ten (71%) GLBT adults today say that they own pets, compared with 63 percent of heterosexual adults, according to the results of a new national survey. The same survey also shows that nine in ten (90%) GLBT pet owners say their pet is a member of their family and 64 percent also add that they have bought their pet a holiday present."

Our Favorite Things
This week's issue of Nightspots features a large section on the "favorite things" wished for by the locals of our fabulous gay community this holiday season.
In it, you'll see my collegue, ChicagoPride.com Senior Vice President Bill Pritchard, wishing for the warm maudlin fun of friends and family--that's his favorite thing. A few pages prior, and my favorite thing featurette calls for the bloody killing of cute, fuzzy woodland creatures.
Damn you, Pritchard. You've one-up-ed me again!
Much thanks to Windy City Media Group's Kirk Williamson and Nightspots for the honor of including ChicagoPride.com in this year's "Favorite Things" feature.

Good grief Jason! What ever happened to Peace on Earth and goodwill towards man!?!?! COMEDY! ~Bill Pritchard
One may find imparting peace and goodwill challenging if they're cold. LOL!
yah thanks
humility is the sign of a professional, Justin, and the sign of one who knows when best to strike out in jealous vengence.
Between you and Bill Pritchard, you chicagopride.com people are all over the damn place! I think a compromise should be struck between you and Bill. You can have all that peace bullshit (He is right ya know) while staying warm. ;-)
You're quite the professional then J because if anyone knows humilty it's you :)
<3
<3
"Than," Justin--Th-A-n. The correct participle conjunction you want to use in that statement is "than."
And thank you for the compliment. ;)
And thank you for the compliment. ;)
I think you two (Justin and Jason) should take this arguement further... let's settle this at Lube Wrestling! We can make it a huge event. Name the date, let's set it up.

Happy Chanukah, Ari Gold
This year's Festival of Lights is turning out to be a radiant one for gay, Jewish musician Ari Gold.
Unlike other openly gay performers, Gold is not a stranger to mainstream press. His fourth album, Transport Systems, released via Centaur earlier this year, is no exception.
In the December 10 issue of People Magazine, Gold recieves a favorable review. Compared similar in sound to George Michael, People awards the album three of four stars.
Gold was also recently named Grand Prize winner in the USA Songwriting Competition. The world's leading international songwriting competition, over 33,000 song submissions were made in this year's contest. "Where The Music Takes You," written by Ari Gold, JOJOHO and Sean Petersen won the first prize in the Pop Song Category, and also the Grand Prize for the entire competition--And, like Gold himself, that's pretty sexy.
Maybe next album, and come Rosh Hashanah, Gold will make the cover of Newsweek. Then we'll know for sure if the straight world has fully come to love this gay pop powerhouse!

The Heart of Rock 'n Roll
Just because they're hired guns doesn't mean they don't care.
Gay dad, New York restaurateur and rocker, Ariel Aparicio, along with his band, The Hired Guns, are fundraising for family this year.
Making the single "I'm the One," from their upcoming Bully Records album, All These Beautiful Things, available for download, all proceeds will be donated to the Paul Chester Children's Hope Foundation. The foundation "provides vital assistance to improve the lives and well being of families in developing countries."
The charitable download can be made off Aparicio's Web site, www.arielaparicio.com.
