How far have we come in the fight for gay, lesbian, bisexual ans transgendered rights since the 1970s?
Gus Van Sant's new biographic film MILK brings forth a chilling timeliness with parallels to the anti-gay measures passed in the last election.
Have we come a long way baby, or have we only just begun?
On today's show we have the real-life Cleve Jones, Harvey Milk's protegee and friend portrayed by the hunky actor Emile Hirsch in the film. Since the 1970s, he has been working tirelessly for gay rights and union organization.
On the anniversary of the assassination of Harvey Milk, Cleve conceived the idea for the AIDS Memorial Quilt, the world’s largest community arts project and memorial to the lives of over 85,000 Americans killed by AIDS.
Cleve shares his experience with the film and his thoughts on boycotts and the fight against proposition 8. Cleve is asking for the gay community to boycott Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego because the owner of the hotel gave $125,000 to Yes on Prop 8 campaign. They are having a community forum on the boycott on December 6th at the Center on Halsted at noon. Call 773.472.6469 for details.
Will we ever see a political leader like Harvey Milk again, and where's their Facebook profile? It seems Obama won the election online, maybe we'll find the same success as the new generation of queer youth network and organize on the internet.
Join us as Cleve answers how accurate was the movie? Was it a mistake to release the film after the November election? Was Harvey Milk's lover Scott Smith as attractive as actor James Franco? What was assassin Dan White's sinister relationship to the San Francisco Police Department?
And does the potential for winning an Oscar help an actor kick it up a notch on the Kinsey Scale?
Find out, PLUS- we've got Cleve Jones for the hour plus questions from you, our listeners.

Merry Christmas! Ho ho ho. For many the mere thought of the holiday season is enough to send chills down your spine.
Christmas films expose our anxieties and our desires around the pressure from both our families and society which urges us to spend, spend, spend. Whether it's time or money, we are spending something and in the end, we feel helpless and worn out!
We love it, we hate it, it brings us joy and makes us miserable. Christmas time is here!
On today's show San Francisco's movie maven Peaches Christ joins us to share with us fabulous Christmas themed movies every gay man must see.
Santa is often central to many Christmas themed movies as complex symbol for good and evil and we wonder if his role is that the ultimate stalker. After all, he sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake. Why does he not have any other hobbies?
We ask what is the true meaning of Christmas anyway? Is it people, presents or is it murder and mayhem?
Join us as we talk about A Christmas Story, the Mexican Santa Claus Movie, and the evil Joan Collins fighting a murderous Santa Claus in the Tales from the Crypt video to the right. It is so campy and 70s, you'll love it.
Also, other horror films that take place during the holidays- The Shining, Black Christmas and Jack Frost which is about a murderous snowman.
And, Marc's favorite movies for the Christmas season which feature women having strange babies or the mysterious pregnancies such as in The Omen, Rosemary's Baby, or the video trailer to the right which features Barbara Eden as a woman who is about to give birth to a baby alien. If anyone has a video of The Stranger With In, we'd love to borrow it.
Merry Christmas and please survive the holidays-don't drink and drive.

Thanksgiving has come and gone, but we're stuck with a fridge full of delicious food, the only problem is it's all TURKEY.
What do you do with leftovers when the holidays have come and gone? You can really only eat so much Turkey Tetrazinni.
On today's show our good friend blogger Michael "too legit to quit" Lehet joins us to talk about the movie, Milk, starring Sean Penn as Harvey Milk, the first openly gay publicly elected official.
Will Sean Penn get an Oscar nod? Why didn't we see James Franco's prosthetic penis? And which famous San Francisco drag queen was chewing gum during a pivotal scene?
The aftermath of the last election leaves many queer people in this country feeling anxious and that little has changed since the 1970s. It can feel like we've not come a long way, baby.
But the greatest atrocity this week was Rosie Live, Rosie O'Donnell's attempt at reviving the television variety show was dead on arrival. Why Rosie, why? We love the 70s variety show genre and we hope someone else can revive it. Please don't let Rosie be the last nail in the coffin. Create your own podcast sidekick with the virtual Rosie (Riding the Bus with My Sister) soundboard.
The fabulous fundraiser- World of Chocolate happens this Wednesday Dec 3, in Chicago will Michael find his true love at this delicious event?
Join us as we talk about why John Barrowman is always welcome on the Feast of Fools and why Boy George isn't. Plus, dangerous boobs, gay penguins and prehistoric marijuana found in an ancient tomb. We wonder if can you smoke it?
The canary in the cave mine of crazy- Feast of Fools.

We dressed up as pandas for the local marriage equality protest to have a little fun and to stay warm. Yes, marriage and equality is a serious business but we still like to have fun and who doesn't love a panda?
Here were are posing with a Defend Equality poster designed by Shepard Fairey, who designed the famous Obama Hope print. Thanks to Steamworks for printing them.
People loved the signs and I've got more that I'll bring to the monthly organizing meeting of the Gay Liberation Network on Wednesday, December 3 – 7 – 9 PM at the Gerber Hart Library, 1127 W. Granville Street, Chicago (just ½ block west of the "Granville" Red Line el stop). Come and get involved in your rights!
Join us as we chat about Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin talking turkey while a gruesome scene right out of Fargo unfolds in the background, beer that saves lives but tastes nasty, Jerusalem syndrome in Asian zoos, Tracy's new European flavored sex adventures and Michael Jackson converts to Islam. Has the King of Pop traded in his sequined glove for a burqua?

If you can come dressed as your favorite movie star or movie character, the protest would be much more memorable.
I'd love to see Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ, Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Joan Crawford, Keystone Cops, Hulk, Spiderman, Brokeback mountain cowboys, Carrie, Jason, Harry Potter, or Santa Claus.
Let's take the studio system and turn it right back on them.
You can't put down a well dressed town!
