Dancing Until Dawn
Circuit Night Club will be a busy place this weekend. First off there's the 2nd Anniversary Urbano: Hip-Hop For All dance party on Friday, April 25 with DJ Anton. The next night, April 26, it’s Nitro: BABY BOOM with DJ Billy Steele (NYC) and the “world’s largest playpen.” We’re not sure if Pampers will be handed out at the door, but this party is bound to be interesting with décor by Visuwil and other special surprises in store. Finally on Sunday, April 27, Noche Latina takes over the North Halsted dance-porium with DJs Fast Freddy and Alex Perez and hostess Veronica Zaid.
At Berlin, purple madness and fun is on tap at the monthly Prince Nite on Sunday, April 27. Earlier in the weekend at this Chicago institution, DJ Greg Haus spins the Cosmix party every Friday night. Another late night dance floor in Boystown is Charlie’s, which features the hi-nrg beats of DJ Lulu, who takes over the weekend booth after the country, 2-step, and line dancing ends.
Up on the northside, Jackhammer has been become a popular after-hours destination featuring DJ Oskar on Wednesdays and Thursdays while go-go boys shake and bake on Fridays and Saturdays. In the heart of Boystown, Hydrate packs them in nightly with a resident DJ line-up that includes Ralphi Rosario, Jeanette, Greg Drescher, and DJ Laura B.
If It’s Monday, It Must Be House
The start of the week continues to be special for those who love house music. Upcoming on Monday, April 28, the long-running "Boom Boom Room" @ Green Dolphin Street presents “Red Dog Classic” with guest DJs Mark Grant and Lego. They join residents Michael Serafini, Diz, JustJoey & Uncle Milty. Over at the new "Monday Social: Beats + Bass + Rhythm" party at Debonair Social Club (1575 N. Milwaukee Ave.), it’s Beat Giants vs. The Sound Republic and April 28 and “Cinco de Mazi” featuring Mazi on May 5. They join residents Brian Gardner Specs, Diamonds & Willy Joy.
And to make sure you have plenty of motivation and nourishment for a full Monday night, be sure to start your evening at Morgan's (1325 S. Halsted) for their "Service Industry Networking Night." This new party features very attractive drink specials, half-price pizza, and the music of DJ KT.
Towel Service: More & Less
Steamworks, the full-service all-male club, gym, and sauna, features a "Lights Out" party every Thursday night and an after-hours setting with DJ Dick on Friday and Saturday nights. The monthly “Bears, Bath & Beyond” play party w/ DJ Dexter Jacques takes place on Saturday, April 26 (1pm-6pm). The all-nude stripper shows at Man's Country, Andersonville's entry in the bath house market, feature the men of Sarabia, including Kurtis, Paris, Alexander and Nate on Friday, April 25 and Christian, Jimmy D, Martin and Manuel on Saturday, April 26.
Strippers in thongs are aplenty at @mosphere, especially on Friday and Saturday nights with DJs Eric Hall and Timmy Loop, respectively. Meanwhile down in Boystown at Lucky Horseshoe, strippers perform seven days a week strutting their stuff on the bars. Lots of visible male flesh is a five nights a week occurrence at Cocktail with the Spank Go-Go Boys. House music is the soundtrack for the dancers featuring Pete Augusta (Sundays), Michael Serafini (Tuesdays), Timmy Loop (Thursdays) and Freddie Bain (Fridays). It's a bit more amateurish but just as fun every Friday night as Spin hosts a "Shower Contest" for those willing to strip down and get wet while DJ Chris Eterno supplies the sexy beats. And don’t forget about the Roscoe’s “Wet Boxer Contest” on Thursday, April 24.

The center of Boystown nightlife is at the corner of Halsted and Roscoe and one of the institutions, Roscoe's, presents a very special “Drag Race 2008 DEATHMATCH” hosted by Frida Lay and featuring guest performers Jerri Blank (Miss Roscoe’s 2008) and Blanche Du Bois on Tuesday, April 29. Then on Thursday, May 1, during “Bingo” they’ll also host a CD Release Party for Robyn’s new album “Robyn”. Across the street at Minibar, the cool, trendy, and good looking gather to enjoy booze and beats at “Power Hour Wednesdays” (DJ Jon Roberts) and “Mystique Thursdays” (DJ Phil Da Beatz). On the weekend they’ve got DJs Oskar on Fridays and Chris Eterno on Sundays.
Next door, the video bar Sidetrack packs them in nightly with a potent combination of slushy drinks and a wide variety of handsome men. Popular nights include "Showtunes" on Mondays, "Comedy" on Thursdays, and "Energy Videos" on Fridays and Saturdays. Be sure to save the date of Wednesday, May 7, as Sidetrack is hosting an “Un-Stuffy Wine Tasting” to benefit Equality Illinois, 6-9pm.
Suburban Sprawl
Dancing out in the northwest suburbs is best done @ Hunters with DJs Laura B for Saturday's "Ascent" and Ron G for Wednesday's "MWM." Also be sure to catch Lawrence K spinning videos all night on Fridays. The west suburban gays and lesbians hang out dancing, grooving, and cruising @ Hideaway in Forest Park while their south suburban counterparts do the same at in Blue Island @ Club Krave. Further out on the very edge of Chicagoland, Encompass Nightclub serves the pink and lavender set of northwest Indiana with quality entertainment, dancing, and cocktails.

When it comes to urban flair, the "Xotik" crowd will be getting down on Saturdays @ Tokyo 21 with DJ Anton busting out R&B, hip-hop, and house. In Boystown, the phat beats get played at at Spin for the "Ear-Rotic" parties with DJ Stoney on Saturdays, April 26 & May 3.
Weekly Latin pursuits include the south side's Chesterfield Club on the weekends, Hydrate on Tuesdays, Circuit on Sundays, and Jackhammer on Sundays. And then on Fridays and Saturdays out in the southwest suburbs there's yet another "Boom Boom Room" (not affiliated with those previously mentioned) @ La Quinta de los Reyes (6739 W. Ogden Ave. in Berwyn).
The lovers of leather hang out nightly at the Chicago Eagle and Cell Block while on the far north side Touché hosts a "Hardcore Leather Night" on Tuesdays. Touché will host a “M.A.F.I.A. Club Night” on Friday, May 2 and then a “Bear Night” on Saturday, May 3. Fun manly crowds take up shop at places such as Buck's and Little Jim's in Boystown, Granville Anvil on the far north side, and Manhandler in Lincoln Park.
When it comes to general crowds where you are apt to see everyone, tops on the list (and don’t worry there are bottoms there as well) are Uptown bars Big Chicks, which has dancing on Fridays and Saturdays, and the sports bar Crew, which has "Man The Mic Karaoke" on Tuesdays. In Andersonville Mary's Attic features “MaryOke Karaoke” on Sundays and Wednesdays, DJ Shoshana’s eclectic mix on Fridays and the groove-a-thon “Attic-tion” with DJ Plez on Saturdays. Other great places in the city for gathering include Scot's in the Ravenswood neighborhood, Marty’s and Star Gaze in Andersonville, and The North End, The Closet, and Bobby Loves in Boystown. And of course you can’t miss out on $1 drinks at Spin’s “What The F&*k Wednesdays.”
On the cabaret music front, Gentry On State has been delighting downtown patrons for years while other crowded outposts include Davenport's in Wicker Park, 3160 in Lakeview and Cornelia's in the heart of Boystown. On the house music front, there’s Boystown outlet Scarlet with its rotating line-up of DJs on weekends and the south side’s Jeffrey Pub with Chicago legend DJ Dana Powell every Friday.
