Just reserved tickets for next week's Itty Bitty Titty Committee showing. It sounds hilarious from advance reviews. I've been waiting for months to see this movie, which will be followed by an LWord party afterwards.
More to come after the movie and party!

I'm comin' out!!
On this national Coming Out Day, I came out to a colleague who doesn't approve of my sexual orientation, and who in the past has said she'll pray for me. Heck, I take all the prayers I can get, but I explained to her some time ago that being LGBT is like being left-handed, and that it's not BAD, just different.
Today she laughed and said, "Is that your theme song?"
I laughed and said no, my theme song is "Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again."
I think many times this is what LGBTQ people have to do, sometimes after a giant TKO, and sometimes only after a kind of "sneeze" response from someone they thought might have already known.
I am seriously debating coming out to my mother today, but so far I haven't decided. After all, I still have 5.5 hours left to do it today.
Let's see what my "my better judgment" will come up with.
More later.
Be well, and in the words of Star Trekkies, "live long, and prosper."

It's past Labor Day; haven't gotten to the beach
It's already Autumn, and i am wondering, somewhat bewildered--where has the summer gone. Leaves are starting to fall off the trees outside my house!

It was somewhat interesting this year--cicadas so loud you could hardly think, child at summer school, lots of library books AND NO OVERDUE FINES.

No need for me to find shorts and an appropriate top for the beach...

Fall is one of my favorite seasons (besides the other three), 'cause i can wear my jeans and flannel shirts, baseball cap, dyke shoes, all without appearing "too gay."

However, come October 11, i DO intend to "Talk about it," (the HRC theme for national coming out day) among members and perhaps ministers in my northside Chicago church. i've gotten together a packet from HRC, including "Coming Out in Your Place of Worship."

i also posted the HRC equal sign on my office door and window, and on my rear car bumper. Someone already asked me about the sign, and i replied, everyone is equal, and should be treated equally and fairly, and that's what this sign represents.

Wonder which season it will be when i move into my new apartment, after departing my house for the last 6 years; if i knew, i'd be able to pack up the clothing inappropriate at that time.

i've made some contacts on chicagopride this year, and have posted at several other L sites; there are quite a number of them.

Incidentally, the suburban IL library system does have some lesbian and gay themed reading materials. i've just reserved some, and look forward to receiving and reading them.

i'm really psyched about my pet project, a women's community center, particularly for lesbians. i've been doing all kinds of research, and am looking for volunteer help with obtaining funds, writing grant proposals, and thinking about what kinds of professionals and volunteers the center would benefit from. i need to consult with my cohort in crime (lol), a dear friend who has the same vision as i do about this. No doubt we will need the services of a CPA and lawyer, so if anybody wants to give pro bono assistance, we'd really be grateful--plus, they will get experience to put on their CV or resume.

Well, now off to my day job, which currently supports me while i dream my magic dreams of helping found a solace for lesbians on the southwest side of Chicago. More later on this topic.

Can i go to the beach
i haven't been able to go to the beach for >2 years; maybe i'll go this weekend, Sunday afternoon or Monday during the day. my favorite Chicago beach is North Ave beach, but i can't bring my two dogs there. One of my dogs gets carsick, so i don't think she'd make it to Montrose beach, either, where dogs are welcome.
i am mad about Kate Moennig--apparently SHE likes the beach, too. Reportedly she likes to surf, but the Pacific ocean was just too cold for me--and that is warmer than the Atlantic.
Apparently she likes to walk the beach as well...i'd love to walk the beach with her!!
Can't wait for the beginning of Season 5 of the L Word...!
Well, if i can't go to the beach, maybe i'll go in the dogs' pool--or maybe play in some sand. Somehow, though, that just won't feel the same...;-}

Just cannot wait until this movie is available
The itty bitty titty committee sounds hilarious; when this film comes out, i definitely want to see it. If the movie's as good as i expect from the advance PR, i am almost positive i will buy it on DVD.
